So I often come across women thinking they are on a form of HRT... who aren't! They are using a localised hormonal medication for menopause symptoms. Several of these are very popular in France.
These medications are not the same as HRT. HRT is hormonal REPLACEMENT therapy, replacing the hormones throughout your body. Hormonal medications, on the other hand, are lower dose hormonal meds that deal with certain localised symptoms only. This can be things like vaginal atrophy and dryness, sore breasts, and low sex drive.
Localised hormonal medications, unlike HRT, can also be prescribed by sage femmes. (Sage femmes, or midwives, aren't really supposed to prescribe full HRT, on the other hand. Although I have heard rumours some sage femmes in countryside areas prescribe HRT anyway, I can't say whether that rumour is true or not).
Also note that the localised medications I discuss in the video can be taken with or without HRT. And they can be taken if you are perimenopausal, menopausal, post menopausal... you get the picture.
